What is Hepatitis?
In today's generation many people don't know about the Hepatitis. What is Hepatitis? Why it infects? How it infects? What are the causes? What are the types? and How it can be disinfected? The July 28th is declared as a World Hepatitis Day to awareness the Hepatitis Virus; how it can inflate, causes, problems and damages to the Liver and other internal organs.

According to WHO (World Health Organization) making awareness to the masses about Hepatitis, the world Hepatitis day is celebrated on this date. So everyone must know about the Hepatitis how it can be prevented, what are the types, causes, measures, and how to treat the infection, need to be know and share the valid information to prevent the disease.

Therefore awareness of the Hepatitis is very much important to everyone. The Hepatitis can be infected to anyone irrespective to any age or gender. Thus it must be identified in the initial stage and start treatment to prevent further damage to the liver. It wont show any symptoms unless and until the disease gets sour and severe. So for ever 6 months one must diagnose themselves with blood test.

How to identify Hepatitis? 

There are many different types of viruses, most of the time we see cases with acute viral Hepatitis, this means eyes gets yellow color (Jaundice), urine flows yellow in color, low grade fever, vomiting sensation, not feeling hungry, low energy and immunity etc are the symptoms of acute viral hepatitis. This is visible easily on the face of the patient and immediately medical attention shall be treated, plus it has an advantage of self-limited, it means by it's own in one week to ten days it will slowly comes down or cures.

The viral Hepatitis A and E most common types. These are most spread from contaminated food and water. It has chances of spreading from one person to another. Most importantly we can treat and cure this with available vaccination and must take every time clean food and water, by this 99% acute viral Hepatitis can be prevented. So everyone must know about Hepatitis carefully and follow the measures prescribed by your physician.

What are Second type of Hepatitis?

The second type of Hepatitis are B and C. These are mostly chronic type of hepatitis, most of the time it wont occur yellow eyes and get urine yellow, but these are parental, means it spreads from blood, not from water or food, sometimes reused or unsterilized needles, razors, etc. Use only disposable needles and carefully dump them or put to recycle. During pregnancy if a mother has hepatitis then there is also a chance of getting to child hepatitis B and C. What test are done to know Hepatitis positive?

To know Hepatitis A, E, B, C, D it is important to get tested if you think you have been exposed to Hepatitis viral infection. Blood banks screen all donated blood for the Hepatitis virus in advance and verify, usually it is not that easy to tell physically, only withe blood test can be identified. So every one must take a Hepatitis test without fail, and other who are living with Hepatitis infected patient must immediately get Hepatitis test and take vaccination to prevent spreading the infection.

What are the symptoms for Hepatitis?

In the initial stages we don't know the symptoms of Hepatitis. Slowly the virus will damage the chronic liver from a variety of causes leading to Liver failure. There after damaging the Cirrhosis of Liver completely also called (Hepatic Cirrhosis). The following are the most common symptoms of Hepatitis: the legs and stomach become fattens, chance of getting jaundice, blood vomiting, bleeding, bloating, dark stool from digested blood, fluid in the abdomen, vomiting blood, or water retention, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, or reduced hormone production, swollen skin blood vessels or yellow skin and eyes, weight gain or weight loss, abdominal pain, bleeding, breast enlargement, bruising, dark urine, enlarged veins around belly button, flapping tremor, itching, mental confusion, muscle weakness, red palms, shortness of breath, swelling, swelling in extremities, swollen veins in the lower esophagus, or tenderness are the symptoms of chronic Hepatitis virus. For Cirrhosis of Liver, there is no treatment other than the Liver Transplant. There are many medicines and treatments are available for chronic Hepatitis virus.

Which is most dangerous, Hepatitis B or C?

Actually both are dangerous, but Hepatitis B is more dangerous than Hepatitis C. For both Hepatitis B and C there are treatments available. There is one advantage to Hepatitis C is this is the only chronic virus which can be cured. Now in India we have available Sofosbuvir tablet. With this the treatment duration starts, this can be taken for 12 weeks, and an interferes injection 2 tablets 12 weeks taken 90% above cure rate of chances are there. 

Does Hepatitis have a chance of infecting again?

Mostly there wont have many chances to infect back again. Similarly, for Hepatitis B also has a medicine, most of the time we can not tell weather it has infected to liver or to other internal organs, when and how it spreads is a suspicious, so every one must take diagnosis for every 6 months and follow measures. Ask for LFT (Line Function Test) blood test to your Gastroenterologist or Heptologist and get done with the test. If founded with virus there is no clear idea for how many days or years can be cured., but the treatment need to be started immediately. Probably may take 1 to 5 years of process, so after getting diagnosis reports and doctor consultation, must go ahead for the treatment in getting further liver damage. If neglected causes Cirrhosis of Liver, not only there is a chance of getting liver cancer as well.

Does Hepatitis Virus infect to other parts of internal organs?

Yes, mostly it will infect and damages Liver only, but rarely there is a chance of infecting to Kidneys. But not significantly it happen. Similarly, Hepatitis B & C particularly attack to the liver only. To fight with these kind of viruses the following are anti-dosages: The antibiotic, Cefotaxime (Claforan) must taken by injection, Rifaximin (Xifaxan). For antiviral, Entecavir (Baraclude), Lamivudine (Epivir), Ribavirin (Rebetol). The diuretic, Bumetanide by mouth or by injection, Furosemide (Lasix). Laxative, Lactulose in the rectum or by mouth (Enulose). Octreotide, by injection (Sandostatin), Nadolol (Corgard), Spironolactone (Aldactone), Propranolol. And finally, try to take Low sodium in your daily diet.

What is Cirrhosis of Liver and How it occurs?

The Cirrhosis of Liver is also called Hepatic Cirrhosis it leads to Chronic Liver damage from a variety of causes leading to scarring and liver failure. We see most commonly Alcoholic Cirrhosis of Liver disease, heavy drinking of alcohol will causes to Liver diseases. If anyone proved with Cirrhosis of Liver, the treatment is Liver Transplant only is the solution. If delayed it causes to liver cancer. With proper medication and measures one can prevent these Cirrhosis of Liver and Chronic Hepatitis virus.

Drug injury Hepatitis, means using the medicines for very long period of time, miss match of medicines etc, will also have an adverse effect and will have a chance of getting Hepatitis. Negligence of any type of Hepatitis slowly damages the Liver and increases the stiffness of the Liver which is called Cystic Fibrosis, next it goes to irreversible stage of doing damage to Liver, that is called Cirrhosis of Liver. Obesity and Diabetics are also one of the major causes for Hepatitis, this is called Non-alcoholic state of Hepatitis. Later it has a chance of turning into severe Liver Cancer if neglected further.

Mostly Hepatitis and Chronic Alcohol abuse are frequent causes for the Cirrhosis of Liver damage. The Cirrhosis often has no symptoms until Liver damage is extensive. Liver is a vital organ in the body, there is no life without Liver or proper functioning. The Liver damage can be prevented in the initial stages if diagnosed at the right time. Any kind of Liver problem starts with Hepatitis, so identifying the Hepatitis is most important. Then it can be properly medicated and prevented further damage to the Liver.
