"Bionic eye" a ray of vision for blind

Melbourne women gets world's first bionic eye.
The “Bionic eye” has given an Aussie woman, a partial sight and researchers say it is an important step towards eventually helping visually implanted people get around independently. Dianne Ashworth, who lost her vision due to inherited condition, was fitted with a prototype bionic eye at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital.
