Mission Bhagiratha - Telangana Drinking Water ProjectTelangana the youngest state in India, is geographically countdown with two perennial rivers Godavari and Krishna. But the tragedy is the majority of the habitation relied on contaminated ground water in most areas been drought and 973 villages doomed with high fluoride content which leads to dreadful disease fluorosis.

Development and identity was an distant dream in Telangana due to deliberate negligence of the successive governments erstwhile undivided state of Andhra Pradesh. After the formation of Telangana state, taking a path breaking step for a drought free future where no women or men have to walk distance for fetching water.

Mission Bhageratha Telangana Drinking Water Project is a unique concept of interlinking two perennial rivers and existing reservoirs to collect, reserve and supply treated water to every house hold in over 26000 habitations of 9 rural districts.

This ambitious project due inspiration from Siddipet Water Supply Improvement Scheme, under the Shir K. Chandrashekar Rao conceived and implemented the Siddipet Drinking Water Supply in the year 1996 with in a budget of 60 Crore Rupees. The water is lifted from lower-manner dam to reach every household in 180 villages. This is successful implemented two decades of glitch, operation, dedication and prudence.

Mission Bhageerathe Telangana Drinking Water Supply Project - Gajwel segment a project designed in coherence with nature and evaluating the contour levels maps in Telangana state to pump water using gravity and minimal use of electricity. The government of Telangana appointed WAPCOS LTD. (Water Resource, Power and Infrastructure development) A Govt. of India undertaking company as a state technical consultant for quality control and supervision.

This prestigious project is estimate at 42000 crore targeted to be completed by 2018 to draw 19.62 TMC from River Godavari (1 TMC = one thousand mission cubic feet = 28, 316, 846, 592 litters)
and 19.65 TMC from River Krishan (1 TMC = one thousand mission cubic feet = 28, 316, 846, 592 litters) drilling 130000 kilometer of pipeline that is 3 times of circumference of earth, leading to 26 internal grids, 16 intake wells, 110 water treatment plants, 35573 OHRS (Overhead Service Reservoirs) 62 Intermediate pumping stations covered by 182 Megawatts of Electricity with water supply capacity of 100 LPCD (Liters per Capita per Day for Rural areas) 135 LPCD to Municipality, 150 LPCD to Municipality Corporations and 10% for the industrial needs.

The Govt of Telangana decided to empower women with a task of overseen the water supply system in every village and collection of taxes. The honorable Minister for IT & Panchayati Raj Shri KT Rama Rao has initiated a revolutionary approach to integrate optic fiber along with water pipes to create the most extensive broadband network in India. This will create a revolutionary change in IT e-learning, e-health, e-governance rural and urban habitations.

This novel project is called the attention of the other states in India like Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Utter Pradesh. The HUDCO application from central govt before the completing the first phase.

Mission Bhagiratha - Telangana Drinking Water Supply Project - is one of the greatest challenging mission to the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). The pipeline stretches about 1.30 lakh km, which means three time's circumference of the earth. The water for this mammoth project would be sourced mainly from Krishna and Godavari Rivers.
